History

1946 – Premiere Productions, Inc. was founded on August 8 by Dr. Ciriaco A. Santiago and his wife Adela Hermoso. The couple entered the Philippines’ then fledging motion picture industry by producing the film Ang Probinsiyana, which premiered on August 12 and ran until September 8 at Dalisay Theatre.

1950 – Premiere Productions, Inc. rose to become part of the “Big Three,” referring to the top three (3) production firms in the country. The Company produced films such as Sawa sa Lumang Simboryo, which was the first movie to be awarded Best Picture by FAMAS, Sisa, Dyesebel, Padre Burgos and Kalibre 45, all considered as Philippine Cinema classics.

1954 – Premiere Productions, Inc. stopped producing films at the height of what was then called “bomba” or sexually-oriented films.

1969 – The second generation of the Santiagos ran the company; Cirio became a director, Danilo was in-charge of motion picture production management, while Digna focused on being a producer.

1970 – Premiere Productions, Inc. made a comeback through the film El Pinoy Matador which was shot in Madrid.

1988 – Premiere Productions, Inc. changed its name to Premiere Films International, Inc. and was incorporated on January 13. The Company started to venture into international movie production.

1993 – Premiere Films International, Inc. introduced the Roving Cinema, an independent mobile movie theater-cum-advertising van that showcased movies, television programs or documentaries interspersed with advertisements between gaps.

1996 – Premiere Films International, Inc. underwent a corporate restructuring program to venture into the booming entertainment and leisure business in the country. The company changed its name to Premiere Entertainment Productions, Inc. to reflect its new objective of engaging in various entertainment-related activities.

1997 – Premiere Entertainment Productions, Inc. was listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange, and thus became the first publicly-listed company engaged in motion picture production.

1998 - Allied Entertainment Group was created to handle the non-motion picture production and distribution activities of the company.

2008 – Premiere Entertainment Productions, Inc. increased its authorized capital stock from Php 1 billion (US$ 22 million) to Php 1.8 billion (US$ 40 million), and changed its company name to Premiere Entertainment Philippines, Inc. (PEP). The company merged with Digiwave Solutions, Inc., through a share swap transaction – a move that was in line with PEP’s goal to converge its business focus of entertainment with the growing Internet Casino gaming industry and its related software development.

2009 – PEP is currently undergoing expansion of its business operations, and now has six (6) subsidiaries: Digiwave Solutions, Inc., Premiere Events Palace, Inc. (PEPI), PEP Metro Leisure Inc., PEP Olango Estate Inc., PEP QC Estate Inc. and PEP Administracio Inc. The last four (4) were incorporated to engage either in property, entertainment or leisure businesses.
